| Michigan becomes the first state to
have a border-to-border interstate freeway. |

A 7-mile section of Interstate 94 opened
through St. Clair Shores and Roseville completed the 275-mile highway
that ran from New Buffalo on the west to Port Huron on the east.
Completing I-94 made Michigan the first state in the nation to have a
border-to-border interstate highway.
