Holland-Dozier-Holland

Michigan Connection
Eddie Holland, known for his writing, Brian Holland, known for producing and Lamont Dozier, whose forté was melody, were all born in Detroit.

Notable
The trio began collaborating in 1962 and wrote more than fifty of Motown's most memorable songs. They teamed up full-time in May 1963 to work on Motown's in-house assembly line, literally punching a clock when they arrived for work at nine o'clock each morning. They also wrote and produced more than a dozen U. S. top ten singles for the Supremes.

Big Hits
The trio wrote six consecutive number one hits for the Supremes, beginning with "Where Did Our Love Go" in June 1964. They wrote the following hits: "Stop! In the Name of Love" and "You Can't Hurry Love" for the Supremes, "Heat Wave" and "Jimmy Mack" for Martha and the Vandellas, "Reach Out I'll Be There" and "Baby I Need Your Loving" for the Four Tops, "Can I Get A Witness" and "How Sweet It Is To Be Loved By You" for Marvin Gaye.
