Produced in the 1950s by Cadillac’s
Cleveland Tank Plant the M41 Walker Bulldog was highly maneuverable,
reasonably potent and simple to operate. The U.S. Army never used the
Bulldog in combat but did provide a number of them to the South Vietnamese
in the mid-1960s. Although the M41 had a noisy engine which guzzled gas,
the Bulldog, with its 76mm cannon, performed well against slower Russian
tanks used by the North Vietnamese. Today, eight
countries still field an upgraded version of the M41.
