T4 Medium TankT4 tank

Incorporating features of designs purchased from New York based inventor J. Walter Christie; the T4 had a wheel-and-track design and suspension similar to Christie's tank and combat car designs. (J. Walter Christie was an innovative designer of tanks, engines and propulsion systems. Although his designs did not meet US Army specifications, other countries used his chassis patents.) This 12-ton tank could travel at top speeds of 25mph (tracked) or 35mph (wheeled). It provided a low silhouette of only slightly over seven feet and carried a crew of four and two .30 machine-guns and one .50 caliber machine-gun. Only fifteen of the T4's were produced but several other variations were manufactured before being declared obsolete in 1940.
