Grapes into Wine -- A look at the Michigan wine industry

How wine is made History of wine pictorial  Maps of Michigan wineries List of Michigan wineries
The wine-related artifacts on this page are on display at the Lawton Heritage Museum in Lawton. Local residents donated many of these artifacts to the museum so that the area's long grape-growing, juice-processing and wine-making heritage could be preserved and shared.

The cobblestone building that houses the museum was originally the state's first commercial winery. Today, the building serves as a community center run by the local Lion's Club. On September 6, 2001, the center will host its annual wine-tasting event to kick off the Paw Paw Harvest Festival. The museum is open by appointment only and the building is available to rent for weddings and other events. For information telephone (616) 624-2371.
